Jack
Pencil is undoubtedly one of the most competitive racers in our
area. His racing career began when he helped fellow racer and
friend Eric Zembower, then he helped Bob Harclerode of C&C
Cycle, who had an Enduro car. Bob told Jack he could drive his
Enduro car at Windber Speedway on Saturday Night for helping him.
Jack was so hungry to get into racing he didn't care what the
car looked like, he just wanted seat time.
You could tell Jack was a natural the first time out. After graduating
from college Jack had Miles Chamberlain build his 1st Pure Stock
and he kept climbing the ladder in the field of racing.
Jack is the only driver ever at Cumberland Raceway to win Track
Champions in all three classes:
Pure
Stock
Semi-Late
Late Model
The greatest achievements in Jack's career is winning the Mac's
(Mid Atlantic Champship Series) in 2002, along with the Bedford
Speedway Championship also in 2002. Jack is also tied with Tom
Peck with (5) Track Championships at Bedford Speedway.

Can
you identify the characters in this picture taken in 1979, in
Dover, Delaware, one is a Nascar driver, the other two are local
Bedford Speedway late model drivers, the shortest one is a friend
of the local drivers.
